Restaurant

A restaurant (also: Pub, in rural regions village jug) is a gastronomischer enterprise, in which beverages or meals are sold to the immediate consumption and which offers for this a residence possibility, for example a restaurant or a tavern. Legal situation in Germany the term "restaurant" covers the "schankwirtschaft" (i.e. beverages are poured out on the spot to the consumption) and the "food economy" after the German licensing act (i.e. prepared meals offered for the consumption on the spot). The enterprise of a restaurant requires a restaurant concession after the licensing act. This may be connected with Nebenbestimmungen, in particular editions to provide e.g. for noise-protecting measures. Restaurant permission applies to a certain mode of operation (e.g. discotheque, schankwirtschaft, food economy), to the certain premises and to a certain person (restaurant operator/barkeeper).
